We understand that visiting a new practitioner can sometimes feel daunting, so we aim to make your first appointment as comfortable and informative as possible. Your initial consultation with Matthew will typically last around 30 to 45 minutes and involves a comprehensive assessment to get to the root of your problem.
Medical History & Consultation: We will start with a friendly chat about your current foot or leg symptoms, how long you’ve had them, and how they affect your daily life. We’ll also review your general medical history, lifestyle, and any medications you are taking, as your overall health can closely impact your feet.
Physical Examination: Matthew will conduct a hands-on examination of your feet, ankles, and lower legs. This typically involves assessing your skin and nail health, checking joint mobility and muscle strength, and testing your blood circulation and nerve sensation (which is especially important for diabetic patients).
Biomechanical & Gait Assessment: If you are experiencing structural or movement-related pain (like heel, knee, or back pain), we will observe how you stand and walk. Analyzing your gait helps us identify any imbalances or alignment issues that need correcting.
Diagnosis & Immediate Treatment: Once the assessment is complete, Matthew will clearly explain your diagnosis in plain English. For many routine complaints, such as painful corns, calluses, or ingrown toenails, we can often provide immediate, on-the-spot treatment to give you instant relief.
Your Personalized Treatment Plan: You will leave the clinic with a clear, tailored plan to keep you moving comfortably. This might include tailored advice on the best footwear for your foot type, specific stretching or strengthening exercises, recommendations for custom orthotics (insoles), or a schedule for follow-up care.
We provide thorough assessments and individually tailored treatments for patients of all ages. If you are experiencing any of the following issues, our podiatry services can help:
